These terms apply exclusively to individual travelers and private bookings. To confirm a reservation, a 30% deposit is required at the time of booking. The remaining balance must be paid at least 30 days prior to check-in. For holiday periods or custom programs, a different payment schedule may apply and will be communicated in advance.
Booking deposit: To confirm a reservation, a 30% deposit of the total amount must be paid in advance. This advance payment is strictly required to secure the booking and is non-refundable in case of cancellation. The reservation is considered confirmed and binding once the deposit is received.
Balance payment: The remaining 70% must be paid before the trip (no later than 30 days before the check-in date). For last-minute bookings (within 30 days of check-in), full payment may be required at the time of booking.
Payment methods and currency: Rates are expressed in U.S. dollars (USD) and are VAT-exempt for foreign guests who pay in foreign currency, according to Chilean regulations. We accept international bank transfers and secure online payments (e.g., PayPal or credit card), depending on the guest’s convenience. Note: Any bank fees or credit card commissions (if applicable) are the responsibility of the guest.
Non-payment: If the client fails to complete the deposit or final payment within the established deadlines, ChileUndiscovered reserves the right to cancel the reservation. In such cases, the cancellation policy below will apply, and partial or full retention of payment may occur.
Included services (no hidden costs):
Our programs are all-inclusive, tailored to international travelers to ensure there are no unexpected charges during the stay. Each reservation includes: high-quality lodging, all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) and basic beverages, guided activities and excursions as per itinerary, and local ground transportation. For example, we provide private transfers from/to the regional airport (such as Balmaceda) to our property at scheduled check-in/check-out times. All basic equipment needed for activities (e.g., fly-fishing gear, horseback riding equipment, etc., if applicable) and any local permits or fees related to those activities are also included.
Not included services:
Unless otherwise stated, the following items are not included in our rates:
· Air transportation: International or domestic flights to the program’s starting point are not included (e.g., Santiago–Balmaceda airfare). Each guest is responsible for arranging and paying for their own flights.
· Travel insurance: Travel insurance (medical, cancellation, evacuation) is not included and is strongly recommended due to the remote nature of our destinations. Guests must obtain insurance that covers cancellations for any reason, medical emergencies, activity-related injuries, emergency evacuations, etc.
· Personal expenses: Personal purchases or costs such as tips, souvenirs, international phone calls, additional laundry, premium minibar items, imported or premium alcoholic beverages, spa treatments, or other optional services not expressly included are at the guest’s expense.
· Third-party activities or tours: Any activity or service provided by third parties and not listed in the program (e.g., optional external tours, special transfers, services outside regular hours) is not included unless otherwise agreed. If a guest wants to add extra services operated by third-party providers, we can help coordinate, but the cost will be additional.
· Other exclusions: Visas, country entry/exit taxes, required vaccines, or other personal arrangements are not included. ChileUndiscovered does not cover costs arising from delays or travel interruptions (e.g., hotel nights due to missed flight connections, ticket changes, etc.). It is advised to have funds or insurance to cover these scenarios.
We understand that travel plans may change. ChileUndiscovered offers some flexibility with partial refunds depending on how far in advance the cancellation is made. The following cancellation policy applies (based on the check-in date or program start date):
· More than 30 days before check-in: 30% of the total trip (the deposit) is retained as a cancellation fee. The remaining 70%, if already paid, will be refunded.
(Example: a cancellation made 31+ days in advance results in the loss of the deposit only.)
· Between 30 and 15 days before check-in: A 50% cancellation fee applies. Only 50% of the total paid will be refunded.
(If only the deposit was paid, the guest must pay an additional 20% to meet the penalty amount.)
· Less than 15 days before check-in: Considered a late cancellation. 100% of the booking value will be charged as a cancellation fee. No refunds.
Important cancellation notes:
Cancellations must be submitted in writing via email by the person who made the reservation. The date of receipt determines the applicable refund conditions.
Applicable refunds will be processed within a reasonable timeframe. Any transaction fees (e.g., banking or card commissions) may be deducted from the refund if significant.
Date change flexibility: Instead of canceling, guests may choose (subject to availability) to reschedule their trip. ChileUndiscovered will do its best to accommodate changes, though such modifications are subject to our partners’ availability and operating conditions. A date change close to the start date may be treated as a cancellation and new booking. In some cases, an administrative fee may apply.
No-show: If a guest fails to arrive on the check-in day without prior written notice, it will be treated as a cancellation within 15 days, and no refund will be given. Likewise, if a guest voluntarily ends their trip or skips services included in the program, no refund will be granted for unused services.
Remote environment conditions: Our programs operate in remote areas of Chile (e.g., Patagonia), where external factors may affect logistics. ChileUndiscovered will do its best to fulfill all scheduled services but reserves the right to modify itineraries, routes, or activities due to safety, operational, or weather-related reasons. In cases of significant itinerary changes due to force majeure, no compensation will be offered if equivalent alternative services are delivered. Similarly, if a specific activity is canceled due to circumstances beyond our control (e.g., national park closures, extreme weather), no refund will be given, although we will attempt to offer a substitute activity when possible.
Force majeure and external events: ChileUndiscovered is not responsible for losses, expenses, or disruptions caused by events beyond our control. These include but are not limited to: adverse weather, natural disasters, fires, strikes, wars, flight or transport delays/cancellations, or government restrictions. In such cases, the guest assumes the additional costs that may arise (e.g., extra hotel nights, alternative transport). For this reason, we strongly recommend having suitable travel insurance.
Flights and punctuality: While we manage local transfers, guests are responsible for arriving on time at the agreed meeting point. ChileUndiscovered is not responsible for missed services due to flight delays or travel disruptions. Missed services are non-refundable. If your travel plans are affected, please contact us as early as possible — we’ll do our best to adjust logistics within reasonable limits.
Documentation: Each guest is responsible for holding a valid passport, necessary visas (if applicable), and complying with all entry, exit, and health regulations required by Chile. Any costs from non-compliance (e.g., denied boarding due to expired documents) are borne by the guest.
Activity participation and assumed risks: Our experiences may include outdoor activities with some level of inherent risk (e.g., hiking, horseback riding, fishing, boating). Guests will be required to sign a liability waiver before participating. By signing, guests confirm that they understand the risks and release ChileUndiscovered and its partners from liability, provided all reasonable safety protocols have been followed. We commit to working with certified guides and proper equipment. Guests are expected to follow all safety instructions. We reserve the right to deny participation if a guest is unfit or does not meet safety criteria — in such cases, no refund will be given.
Behavior and compliance: Respectful behavior is expected from guests toward our staff, local communities, and the environment. We reserve the right to terminate a guest’s stay without refund if their behavior compromises their own safety, the safety of others, or violates laws or house rules.
Jurisdiction: These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Chile. In the event of a dispute, both parties may seek an amicable solution; if unresolved, the matter will be brought before the competent courts in Chile.
