Pre-Arrival in Santiago (Optional / Not Included)

Before your journey into Patagonia begins, all international and domestic flights route through Santiago. While this itinerary officially starts upon your arrival in Balmaceda, we are happy to assist with any logistics or arrangements you may need in Santiago prior to Day 1.

Whether it is a private airport transfer, a curated city tour, a vineyard experience, or simply a seamless overnight stay, our team at Santiago Around can coordinate everything to make your arrival smooth and enjoyable.

Day 1 – Arrival in Patagonia & Transfer to Villa Cerro Castillo

Scenic transfer & first contact with the Patagonian landscape

Description:
Private reception at Balmaceda Airport and transfer south toward Villa Cerro Castillo, following a route framed by rivers, snow-dusted mountains, and forests glowing with autumn colors.
Upon arrival, settle into your mountain refuge and enjoy the serene atmosphere, with time for a relaxed walk or rest.

Day 2 – Exploration Around the Mountain Refuge

Gentle walks among forests, cascades & glacier viewpoints

Description:
A full day dedicated to exploring the beautiful surroundings of the private mountain refuge, immersed in native lenga and ñirre forests that burst into warm shades of yellow, orange, and red during autumn.
Peaceful trails lead to small waterfalls, natural viewpoints, and open vistas of Cerro Castillo’s glaciers and jagged peaks.
A calm and inspiring day to absorb the magic of the Patagonian fall season.

Day 3 – Puerto Río Tranquilo, Marble Caves & Exploradores Glacier

Boat navigation + glacier walk/exploration

Description:
Departure toward Puerto Río Tranquilo along one of the most scenic sections of the Carretera Austral, surrounded by vibrant autumn foliage and expansive views of Lake General Carrera. 

Upon arrival, board a boat to visit the iconic Marble Caves, where the turquoise waters and autumn light create unforgettable colors.
After the navigation, continue into the Exploradores Valley for a guided visit to the impressive glacier, framed by granite peaks, moraines, and flowing meltwater streams.

Day 4 – Alternative Route via Hidden Lakes, Puerto Ibáñez & Ibáñez Waterfall

Begin the return journey toward Cerro Castillo following a longer, alternative route that reveals some of the region’s best hidden gems:
• A chain of hidden lakes surrounded by forest and striking autumn colors, with spectacular views toward the Cerro Castillo massif.
• Arrival in Puerto Ibáñez, a quiet Patagonian village perched on the shores of Lake General Carrera.
• Visit to the Ibáñez Waterfall, a powerful cascade showcasing the energy of the Andean melt.

A beautiful day for photography, quiet exploration, and discovering lesser-known corners of the Carretera Austral.

Day 5 – Patagonian Horseback Ride & Traditional Lamb Asado

Enjoy a memorable horseback ride through the valleys and foothills of Cerro Castillo, moving through autumn forests, open pampas, and dramatic viewpoints overlooking the surrounding peaks.
In the late afternoon, return to the refuge for a traditional Patagonian lamb asado, slow-cooked over an open fire and served with a glass of Chilean wine — the perfect way to celebrate your journey.
